SVH Cultural Facility

The project originated as a result of a municipal competition for the design of a building to house cultural associations; a standalone building that addresses the need to provide the various associations with their own dedicated space for meeting and storage.

It is a versatile, multi-purpose building that can be easily adapted to possible changes over the years. Each space has its own independent access, and the interior partitions can be modified according to needs. In this way, the main hall —which is compartmentalised— can be transformed into a large single open space when required.

The relationship between interior and exterior is established through a large porch. This entrance area allows for outdoor covered activities, serves as a calm entry and exit zone, and functions as a generous transitional space. The facility includes four storage rooms and one multi-purpose hall shared by all the associations. It also features a services and utilities area accessible from the outside.

The building consists of a concrete block plinth topped with a metal structure, façade, and roof; a prefabricated and standardised system that allows for very competitive costs while delivering high-quality finishes.

The project incorporates various elements in the roof and façade that enable the use of natural lighting, thereby guaranteeing significant energy savings.
