ADS Rural Hotel

The extension starts from a hotel already in operation. The summer house refurbished in 2016 grows by a new volume, and that growth is resolved without competing with the original building or eating into the garden that makes it habitable.

The new volume sits alongside the existing one and joins it at a single point, so that every room faces outwards. Each room has its own window and direct access to the terrace or the garden; the bathrooms, integrated into the rooms, also receive natural light and ventilation. The plan repeats the principle of the earlier refurbishment: no service space without an opening.

Finishes stay within a short range — large-format stone, oak at the headboards and in the joinery, continuous render — so as not to introduce a new language into the ensemble. The openings are large and set at the height of the bath and the bed, so that the garden's trees become part of the room.
